Textile exhibition: COWandMORE
23. June @ 10:00 - 17. July @ 18:003€
As part of the Esch2022 Year of Culture, the Esch-Sauer cloth factory and Benu Village Esch asbl present the H2Only project. The initiative offers activities around textiles and water and invites, among other things, to see textiles from a different perspective. The motto of the cultural year is “REMIX” and the Guldusi embroidery programme fits in very well with this (www.guldusi.com). In Afghanistan, women make individual embroideries that are sold in Europe and serve as the basis for artistic works here. Textile workers are invited to integrate the embroidered unique pieces into their own creations and to participate in thematic competitions. The embroideries are thus found in new creations and the different cultures, traditions and handicraft techniques are also remixed.
The exhibition includes 45 works by international textile artists. Despite the profound political changes Afghanistan has been going through since spring 2021, contact with the embroiderers will be maintained. Thus, their embroidered pictures will continue to address Afghan culture in Europe.
Incidentally, the exhibition can be seen in Diekirch from 11 – 19 June 2022:

5 Rue du Cure – Place Joseph Bech I L-9217 Diekirch.
Open daily from 10.00 to 18.00, except Mondays.
