The aim of the “Land of Memory” project (co-funded by the INTERREG Greater Region Programme) is the development of a cross-border tourist destination commemorating the conflicts of the 20th century. 15 partners from the Greater Region have joined forces to work together to achieve this goal: devising circular trails, joint marketing of memorials and museums by creating a website and through exhibitions and travelling shows.
Various sites are being renovated to improve communication; in the Éislek, the Schumannseck is getting a new educational trail. A perspectivist representation that bears witness to the Battle of the Bulge is being devised here. An educational programme is also being developed together with the Lycée du Nord.
The project contributes to the preservation of the cultural and natural heritage as well as to the enhancement of the region’s knowledge, history and collective memory.
