ATTENTION: swimming in the Upper Sûre lake forbidden!

In the course of regular monitoring of the quality of the bathing waters, a significant proliferation of cyanobacteria, commonly known as “blue algae”, has been observed in the Upper Sûre lake. The toxins produced by these cyanobacteria can be dangerous for humans, aquatic fauna, domestic animals and livestock.

For this reason, a ban on swimming and all water sports (e.g. diving, water sports, fishing) has been imposed with immediate effect.

In addition, the Water Management Administration, in consultation with the Health Department, recommends that the public is not to eat the fish caught here nor let dogs and other domestic animals drink the water from the lake.

If you experience health problems after swimming, please contact your doctor, mentioning possible contact with toxic cyanobacteria.
