Vernissage of the textile art exhibition
“Following the Thread”
on Saturday, 17 June 2023

at the Cloth Factory Museum in Esch-sur-Sûre, Luxembourg.

This year’s textile summer exhibition also marks the start of the new touring exhibition of the international artists’ association QuiltArt. After a break of 3 years, the 16 members of the group will come together again for the first time to show current works under the motto “Following the Thread”.

15:30 :

Speech – Charel Pauly, President of the Upper Sauer Nature Park
Speech – Gabi Mett, textile artist, representing the association QuiltArt
Viewing of the exhibition and reception. Many QuiltArt artists will be present to guide you through the exhibition.

17:00 – 17:20 :
Lecture “Resilience, Recovery and Stitchery; How quilting saved my life”.
In her talk, textile artist Karina Thompson will explain the genesis of her exhibited work “You Got This Girl Low”, against the background of her experiences with anxiety and depression. She will explain how important quilting and embroidery have been to her personal recovery. The lecture is in English, a translation (DE/FR) will be handed out.
